Terms and Conditions

Version 2026-07-18-2 · Last updated July 18, 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Knoweth ("Service"), including the marketing website at knoweth.app and the app at my.knoweth.app, operated by Knoweth LLC ("Knoweth", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing the site, creating an account, or using the app, you ("User", "you") agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of the Service

Knoweth is a self-reflection and journaling companion. It helps you understand yourself through guided writing, mood check-ins, goal tracking, and personalized reflections generated by artificial intelligence. Features available today include:

  • Free-form journal entries and guided journeys (5-question Standard and, for Pro subscribers, 12-question Deep).
  • Mood check-ins and a three-layer Feelings Wheel (6 core, 30 mid, 90 nuanced).
  • Goal creation and check-in tracking.
  • Voice journaling with automated transcription (Pro).
  • Photo attachments and handwritten-page scans (Pro).
  • Reflection lenses that reframe your entries from different angles.
  • Structured multi-step "processes" for working through life chapters (Pro).
  • Personalized home dashboard, milestones, streaks, and weekly recap emails.
  • Crisis-resource cards that surface in the app when the content of your writing indicates you may benefit from professional support.

Knoweth is not a substitute for a therapist, counselor, doctor, coach, or crisis service. See the medical and safety notice above.

Eligibility

Knoweth is intended for users 18 years of age or older. By using Knoweth, you certify that you are at least 18. If you are under 18, you may not use the Service. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete associated data.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@knoweth.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

We may suspend or terminate your account for any of the following: violation of these Terms, suspected fraudulent activity, non-payment, abuse of the Service or other users, or any activity that violates applicable law.

Subscriptions and payment

Free tier

Free-tier users receive a monthly allowance of AI-processed guided journeys and access to the core journaling, mood, goals, tools, and reflection-lens features. Current limits are displayed in the app under Account → Membership.

Knoweth Pro

Current subscription prices (US dollars; applicable taxes added at checkout based on your billing address):

  • Monthly: $10.99 per month
  • Annual: $95.88 per year (approximately $7.99 per month; approximately 27% off the monthly rate)
  • Weekly: $3.49 per week

Affinity discount

Knoweth offers a 30% affinity discount on all Pro tiers for students, veterans, first responders, and people with disabilities. Eligibility is verified at checkout via a third-party verification partner or, at Knoweth's discretion, manual documentation review. The discount applies for as long as your subscription remains active and you remain eligible. Knoweth may require re-verification periodically.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can cancel any time from Account → Membership. Cancellation stops future billing; you retain access to Pro features until the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

All subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for new subscriptions under consumer protection law. For subscription errors (double billing, wrong tier), contact hello@knoweth.app within 30 days of the charge and we will work with you to resolve it. Knoweth may issue goodwill refunds at its discretion.

Price changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before their next renewal at the new price. You may cancel before renewal if you do not accept the new price.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Knoweth for any unlawful purpose.
  • Submit content that violates another person's rights or applicable law (including but not limited to child sexual abuse material, threats of violence, or content that infringes intellectual property).
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, including other users' accounts or data.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service.
  • Use automated tools such as scrapers, bots, or crawlers to interact with the Service without our prior written permission.
  • Circumvent usage limits, tier gates, paywalls, safety classifiers, or security features.
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service.
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, threaten, or harm any person, including through content stored about other people in your entries.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with Knoweth.
  • Use the Service to provide regulated professional advice to third parties (therapy, medical, legal, financial). Knoweth is a personal reflection tool; professional-practice tiers with appropriate agreements are on our roadmap but not available today.

Violation may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

Your content

You retain all rights to the content you create in Knoweth, including your journal entries, moods, goals, contacts, photos, and voice transcripts. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not sell it.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, transmit, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you. This includes transmitting your content to the sub-processors listed in our Privacy Policy as necessary to generate AI reflections and voice transcription. The license ends when the content is deleted or your account is terminated, subject to the backup-retention window described in the Privacy Policy.

You are solely responsible for your content and its legality. You represent that you have the right to submit any content you upload, including any photos or scans of other people.

AI-generated content

Reflection prompts, journey follow-up questions, insights, lens reflections, milestone messages, and process plans are generated by artificial intelligence (specifically, Anthropic's Claude language models) based on your entries and mood data. Voice transcripts are generated by Deepgram's speech-to-text technology.

Ownership. You may use AI-generated content freely within the Service and for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Knoweth retains ownership of the underlying prompt templates, system prompts, model configurations, and product methodology that produce this content. You do not gain any rights in the AI models themselves.

Limitations you accept. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or inappropriate for your specific situation. AI systems can produce confident-sounding output that is factually wrong (commonly called "hallucinations"). Different AI-generated responses to the same prompt may vary from session to session. AI may reflect biases present in the training data of the underlying models.

Not professional advice. AI-generated content is NOT medical advice, mental-health treatment, therapy, diagnosis, legal advice, financial advice, or any other regulated professional service. It should not be used as a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional. See the medical and safety notice near the top of these Terms.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for the decisions you make based on AI-generated content, including whether to act on it, share it, or ignore it. Knoweth is not liable for actions you take (or do not take) in reliance on AI output.

Right to disregard. You may ignore, delete, or disagree with any AI-generated content at any time. You may also revoke consent to AI processing entirely from Account → Privacy → Revoke consent. See "How AI processes your content" in our Privacy Policy for details on which AI systems we use and what we send them.

Our intellectual property

The Knoweth Service, including its software, design, branding, prompt templates, system prompts, methodology, and the content we author (marketing copy, help articles, prompt libraries), is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial reflection purposes only.

You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service or its content. You may not use our name, logo, or branding without our prior written permission. You may not remove any copyright or proprietary notices from the Service.

Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service (through the in-app feedback form, by email, or otherwise), you grant Knoweth a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use that feedback without obligation to compensate you. Feedback is not considered confidential.

Third-party services

Knoweth uses third-party services to deliver the app, including Supabase, Anthropic, Deepgram, Resend, Stripe, and RevenueCat. Your use of Knoweth is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these third parties as they process your data on our behalf. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party services, though we work only with vendors that maintain appropriate security and privacy standards and are bound by Data Processing Agreements with us.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time from Account → Delete Account. Deletion follows the timeline described in our Privacy Policy (30-day soft-delete grace period, then hard deletion; encrypted backups may retain your data for up to 90 days after hard deletion).

We may terminate or suspend your account with or without notice if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we cease operating the Service. If we terminate the Service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice by email and refund any prepaid unused subscription time.

Upon termination, your access to Pro features ends and your content follows the deletion timeline. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.

Disclaimers

Limitation of liability

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold Knoweth harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third-party right, or your content.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Colorado without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. Users in the European Union and the United Kingdom retain the protection of mandatory local consumer law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When material changes occur, we will update the version number and the Last Updated date, trigger a re-consent prompt in the app on your next authenticated visit, and send you an email notification at least 30 days before the change takes effect (unless the change is required by law and must take effect immediately). Continuing to use Knoweth after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Knoweth regarding the Service. They supersede any prior agreements.

Severability, waiver, assignment

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of that provision.

You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or by operation of law.

Notices

We may send you notices about your account or the Service by email or via the app. You are responsible for keeping your contact information current.
